Felicita Devlin is a Puerto Rican - Irish American transdisciplinary artist from South Florida, currently residing in Providence, RI. They were birthed and brought into this Earth off the three corners of the Bermuda Triangle. They use craft & technology to develop portals for disabled trans expression.
In their work, trans bodies exist in a place of formlessness, not fully forming a clear image. These images vibrate and shapeshift. Opening up portals that radiate energy from supernatural origins. An ambiguous state that morphs and blur into other images, forever in a state of flux. They develop portals into different worlds, from the coast of San Juan, PR to off the shores of Miami.
Their explorations challenge our static understanding of the trans body while acknowledging the politics surrounding the Caribbean body are often limiting. They unload the fluidity & formlessness of gender and identity through amplifying themes of the supernatural.
Their work recently involves textiles, printmaking, riso, and digital photo collage.
